When Senator Joseph Silk recognized that the pro-life movement was putting forward compromising legislation that abandoned the fatherless children to destruction, he immediately repented of his own participation in such compromise and put forward Senate Bill 1118, which would have abolished abortion as murder in the state of Oklahoma.
The bill never received a hearing on the Senate floor. It was blocked by fellow pro-life legislators – men and women who say with their lips that they believe abortion is murder, but refuse to act in accordance with that supposed belief, and even actively opposed those who live more consistently than them.
Other prominent pro-lifers also opposed the bill. One of the most vocal opponents was Tony Lauinger, Vice President of National Right to Life, and President of Oklahomans for Life, who wrote the letter pictured here.
